Tis The Season!

I love this picture, as old as I am, I still believe that I will see Santa and his
reindeer fly in the sky past a full winter moon.
After the baking, shopping, cooking, wrapping, decorating, and all that you do to prepare for Christmas and in between all the hustle and bustle, don't you just want to scream and say why do I bother?
Or you notice the tension and frustration of others when your out in public and you say what a Scrooge they are! You may find yourself saying humbug to everything because you don't feel that special something that everyone else does. But then there is that moment that the little things in life bring you a moment of joy, peace, goodwill, and your love for humanity is restored. That moment when you helped someone in need, or you start to feel  that excitement like a child does who still believes in Santa. Come on you remember that feeling of anticipation and pure joy that someone you believe in and have never seen
will bring you something that you asked for. What a wonderful feeling that was.

Sorry, Isabella, it empty!
This weekend on my Etsy shop, I did a 40% off sale, a lovely women from Poland wanted a dress for her daughter which was to much for her before my sale. I sent her a message to let her know of the sale, and she said that friends didn't grow on trees but the gather around in time of need. It made my day that I could help her get something for her daughter, especially after us talking back and forth and listening to her troubles. Sure made my life feel like a piece of cake.
Yes I put up two trees

So maybe this was my moment of peace and goodwill. My joy will come when I sit and look at the lights on my tree, listening to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker (a beautiful piece of music) and be grateful that I could hustle and bustle, listen to music, see, smell and love all the warmth of the season.

I hope you all find the warmth and love of this holiday season.

Holiday Dressing

Who doesn't owe or love the Little Black Dress? While out hunting for vintage lovelies, I ran across this black dress with that 40's.style. Trying to find info on the label which is a Phoebe, found out that Kay Unger launched the label in the 90s. Kay Unger recognized a void in the marketplace for a cleaner dinner dress and
set out to reinvent the little black dress.
So here is the one that I found that I will be adding to my shop.  Also I made a treasure on Etsy of some beautiful dresses in honor of the LBD. What are you wearing for this holiday season?

Bless You!

This is the season to sneeze, have colds and be under the weather just before the holidays. What joy it is! Yes I have a wonderful
cold with lots of sneezing. Here are a few myths and superstitions of why people say," Bless You," after a sneeze.

 1) That when you sneeze your heart stops for a second, so your
      blessed that it starts again.
 2) That sneezing expels your soul from you body.
 3) That blessing someone after a sneeze prevented the plague.
 Any my favorite poem:
Sneeze on Monday for health,
Sneeze on Tuesday for wealth,
Sneeze on Wednesday for a letter,
Sneeze on Thursday for something better,
Sneeze on Friday for sorrow,
Sneeze on Saturday, see your sweetheart tomorrow,
                                                                                        Sneeze on Sunday, safety seek.
Or maybe  people are just sympathetic and care that your sick!!???

Well I must of sneezed on Tuesday and Thursday, because on Friday I was offered a job to work in a local hospital in the ER department. It has been a long time coming for me. Since this week my unemployment ran out....even thought it is part time it is still a blessing.  Sick or not, at least my spirit is higher.

No matter where you are at in life, You always have something to be Thankful for and Blessed.......

And I still get to do my love of vintage all the shopping, buying and selling!!!  So here is a few pic's  of upcoming items for the Rare Essence Vintage Etsy shop, (when I am better)  with the previous subject in mind.

Happy Birthday Dawg Dog

Since today is  my fabulous nephews birthday whom I care for so much, it got me thinking as I look at my best friend Mr. Winslow, who I also love so much.
(Mr. Winslow Deja Blue is proper name. But we just call him Win's.)

I was thinking not only of my nephew's birthday but also another special November day, when I drove to Ohio to get Mr. Winslow and how the breed itself is so vintage and classic. They are timeless in stature, loyal, playful, tenacious, lovable creators that would brighten  any ones day. So my pal Mark and my best friend Winslow have a lot in common. I am blessed to have both in my life.

This shop that I ran across has lot of terrier memorabilia for all you vintage lovers and dog lovers.

Little Black Dress

Let me start out first with an introduction. My name is Linda and I am a vintage/shopaholic. I get a chill down my back when I run across an item that I think is out of this world, one that's not seen by many, and is not a cookie cutter design that you can purchase at any store that every girl is wearing.

I have for years been wearing vintage clothing and received hand me down dresses from old aunts that I have worn to family get together's, giving everyone a good laugh. Little did they all know that it would become a big business.
So with business in mind and a few pounds later (meaning I can not fit into the hand me down dresses anymore)...opened my vintage ETSY shop...so voila..Rare Essence Vintage http://www.etsy.com/shop/RareEssenceVintage.

The name kind of came from an old perfume that I loved,  Essence Rare by Houbigant, you can read on the history of Houbigant perfume.http://www.perfumeprojects.com/museum/marketers/Houbigant.shtml.

In these tough times, my prices are low so they can be available to everyone and because I do get tired of looking at them take up all my storage space..maybe when the economy turns prices will go up.

Satin ruffled sleeves to rumba in
Enough of an intro and on to the little black dress, which I am looking for a new one for me, and maybe you are too....  So here is an intro of mine from my shop...and I will talk to ya later, because I so have lots to say about a lot of things.....(that's what ya do when your unemployed and play with clothes)

Velvet bodice with taffeta  full skirt

Novelty dress with little hats
Long wool, beaded, coat dress with  pleated  skirt bottom.
